If your Product Set is pulling in hundreds or thousands of products, Limit and Sort By settings control which of those products appear and in what order.

Used thoughtfully, they can make Product Sets cleaner, more relevant, and better aligned with your goals.

Using the Limit Filter

The Limit setting is exactly what it sounds like. It sets the maximum number of products that can appear in a Product Set.

If your filters return 500 products and you set the Limit to 50, only 50 will display. Which 50 get shown depends on the Sort Order you choose.

Limit is useful for keeping your Product Sets manageable.

Using the Sort By Filter

Sort Order decides the order in which products are displayed.

You can sort by fields such as sale price, product ID, or merchant. For example, sorting by Final Price ascending will show the cheapest items first, while sorting by Final Price descending highlights the most expensive options.

How They Work Together

Limit and Sort Order can also strengthen results when you use them together.

Imagine you are creating a Product Set for “Best Laptops Under $1000.” Without adjusting Sort Order, the 100 results you limit to might be a random selection of laptops. With Sort Order set to Final Price ascending, your Product Set becomes the 100 cheapest laptops under $1000.

You can also use Sort Order for editorial choices. For example, sorting alphabetically for a clean browsing experience, or sorting by merchant if you want to highlight specific retailers.

Tips for Using Limit and Sort Order
  • Use Limit to keep Product Sets from getting too large and overwhelming.
  • Experiment with different Sort Orders to see how your results shift.
  • Pair Limit with Sort Order to control not just how many products appear, but which ones make the cut.

If you are not sure which combination will work best for your site, try a few variations and compare. Small tweaks here can completely change the experience for your visitors.
