Hi,
We're very excited to announce that version 2 of the Factory has just moved into an alpha version.
This release contains many added feature requests and will simplify your store building process immensely! I've played with it and it is awesome!
We still have to put it through some rigorous testing, though.
At any rate, here are a few screenshots and explanations.

that first screen - http://www.datafeedr.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=73&d=1238434392 - would be nice if there was a function that automatically generated that list from all active store datafeeds .... and you can save it afterwards ... and this way, if you a create a new store and find new vendors, but then get turned down - you can come back and disable them.
I don't go to shareasale or commission junction and look for vendors to apply and then hope they have a datafeed. I usually create the datafeed store and then go apply to the vendors that appear in the list of vendors for that particular store.

Can you clarify what you mean by this? You can always select all merchants from all the networks and remove merchants from your list as you get turned down.
Eric
I have almost 500 merchants out of 24 datafeeds ... it would be nice to click a general button that goes ahead and detects if a vendor exists in any of the subscribed datafeeds of the store and populate that screen automagically - instead of me tracing which ones are and which aren't.
My affiliate plan is based on using 3 companies SAS, SJ and PJ .. and use any stores that will make up the created datafeed. If you can automaticall update that or have a button where we can press and it updates that list all the time - I can then go in to that screen, print it - and apply for all the missing new vendors. When I get a rejection, I can come back and untick it - and resave the datafeed.
At least - that is what I was thinking outloud Eric.

Speaking of thinking out loud...
It would be great if we could click a "My Merchants" button to auto-select the merchants we have a relationship with (we would have to pre-designate them, of course). That way when we search for products we would only see their products. Sure we could do it ourselves manually each and every time, but it would be a lot easier to just click a button.
We would just need to update our My Merchants list when we add new ones or get dropped, etc.
Is this possible?

so there's no way to test the alpha version (ourselves)?
also - how far away are we from eBay and Amazon items?

We're still deciding if we want beta users or not. There are a few problems if we have beta users.
No ETA for eBay and Amazon.

Eric,
Do you have an ETA for the release of 2.0?
Also, any idea yet if the upgrade will be a seamless process?
I've got several sites I'm working on right now - should I wait until 2.0 is released, or continue to get the sites set up now?
Eric
April 10th, 2009, 09:56 AM
No ETA yet.
Yes, the upgrade will be a seamless process so continue building in the current Factory and all of the shops you create will be transferred to Version 2.

We were hoping for Monday but we found a few more serious bugs that needed to be addressed. We're still planning on releasing V2 this week. Fingers crossed.
At any rate, we're 98% done, user shops have been successfully imported from V1 into V2 and V2 is so much easier to use! I built a couple of shops in the new Factory yesterday and the process is much better!

A feature I would consider critical, would be when I search for widget, I would like to see the list of merchants who match, and also how MANY items match.
Sometimes I don't know who the big players are in a market, until I have to manually go to their sites, since the DF results set just shows all of the results together.
Merchant A (500)
Merchant B (250)
Merchant C (25)
Considering alot of the job we have when adding products, is to avoid duplicates and try to get the standard set of items from a main supplier. So sometimes the products from Merchant C will show up first, and its hard to navigate to realize that really merchant A is the better choice.

Factory v2 is online since yesterday. We did not make yet an official announcement as we're still working on some smaller bugs but feel free to start using the new Factory. While Factory v1 is still accessible any store changes you make in v1 will not be transferred to Factory v2.

Is there a known issue with the new factory where after you add items to your store and go to download it, the screen says Downloading shop with the category name and freezes halfway into the download and just stops? Ive tried several times with no luck

Is there a known issue with the new factory where after you add items to your store and go to download it, the screen says Downloading shop with the category name and freezes halfway into the download and just stops? Ive tried several times with no luckI just accessed your account and was able to download all of your shops. On 2 of them (probably the largest ones) the process quit but then I just refreshed the page and the shop was downloaded.
Obviously, the mandatory refresh is a bug which we will look at. In the meantime, if the download just stops, try refreshing the download page and see if you have better luck.

This issue has been fixed. It was a memory problem that was causing your download to fail.

I didn't get an e-mail either, but came here and found that the new store builder was live last week. I tried it out and it works great! I ran into no problems. For larger stores, you may need to use the FTP upload - my 1st attempt at store upload timed out because of the file size.

Good morning,
Just tried it out and found it to be so much of a time saver. The only issue I have is having products that have no images appear in the search results - is there an option (like version 1) to only have products with images appear in the results.
Thanks for all that you guys do!!

Although I was late to the party, I can see the great improvements in the Factory from v1 to v2. (v2.0 of the factory is not the same as v2.0 of Datafeedr).
Based on some of the requests here, that we be able to manage our merchants more efficiently, I would like to share my thoughts about wanting to have the option to export all our Factory data to a file so we can manage it in Excel spreadsheets, and then re-import it back to our account. This would be the ULTIMATE Factory management solution, perfect for a professional tool such as Datafeedr!
I've requested this feature in my other post: Allow Adding Merchants in Bulk Entry Form (http://www.datafeedr.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2437#8)
